MURANOKAJIYA × Oyanagi Sangyo Vegetable Shredder & Grater
■ Unique Cutting Texture
Equipped with specially developed blades that make food preparation quick and easy.
The rounded, textured cutting surface creates gently uneven vegetable shavings, allowing dressings and seasonings to cling more easily and flavors to soak in better.
■ What is “Ninjin Shirishiri”?
“Shirishiri” is an Okinawan dialect word meaning “to grate” or “to shred.”
In Okinawa, Ninjin Shirishiri is a popular home-style dish commonly served in homes, local diners, and even school lunches.
This “Shirishiri Grater” is the perfect tool for making authentic Ninjin Shirishiri.
■ Rough-Cut Texture That Enhances Flavor
Compared to cutting vegetables with a knife:
- Softer and gentler texture in the mouth
- Uneven surfaces help seasonings coat evenly
- Ideal for stir-fried and dressed dishes
(If you prefer a crisp texture, slicing with a knife is recommended.)
■ An Easy and Delicious Way to Enjoy Carrot Nutrition
Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which is said to function as vitamin A in the body.
Vitamin A is believed to help maintain healthy mucous membranes in the nose and throat, making it popular for everyday wellness support.
Beta-carotene is also known to absorb better when cooked with oil.
That makes stir-fried Ninjin Shirishiri an ideal dish for enjoying carrots deliciously.
Carrots also contain enzymes that can break down vitamin C, but heating or adding vinegar is said to reduce this effect.
Ninjin Shirishiri is a comforting home-style dish that brings out both the flavor and nutritional benefits of carrots.
■ Great for More Than Just Carrots
Perfect for shredding a variety of vegetables such as:
- Daikon radish
- Burdock root
- Potatoes
Useful for soups, hot pots, salads, stir-fries, and many other everyday dishes, making meal prep easier and more convenient.
