How the Uncoated “Fepan” Was Born

“Won’t an iron pan rust easily?”
“Isn’t the maintenance troublesome?”
“But I’d rather get iron from food than rely on supplements…”
If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone.

In reality, once you understand the basics, an iron frying pan is simple for anyone to maintain and “season” over time.
And the fact that you can naturally boost your iron intake just by cooking—doesn’t that feel like a great deal?

This led us to develop a truly uncoated, grow-as-you-use iron frying pan.

Normally, iron pans are coated with silicone (approved by Japan’s Food Sanitation Act) to prevent rust during transport.
However, the development began with customer requests:
“We want a frying pan without silicone coating.”

We made a prototype, and when tested by a food research institution, the result was astonishing:
iron leaching increased by 541% compared to uncoated iron pans used in testing.*

Although we previously applied silicone to avoid rust before delivery, this remarkable result encouraged us to create a pan specifically for those who want more dietary iron:
the uncoated “Fepan.”

To ensure it arrives safely, each pan is double-wrapped with rust-prevention paper and a protective anti-rust bag.

Even if the pan rusts over time, it can be cleaned.
An iron pan will grow and season as you use it—becoming a lifelong companion in the kitchen.

*What “541% More Iron” Means

When stir-frying vegetables with pork, the iron content increased from 0.9 mg/100g (before cooking) to an average of 5.77 mg/100g after cooking in this uncoated iron pan.
