Shaomai (Chinese steamed meat dumplings)
Ingredients
- Store-bought shaomai dumplings | |
- Suitable amount of water for steaming |
Directions
1. | Place the shaomai dumplings in the strainer. |
2. | Fill the cooker with a suitable amount of water. Turn the heat on and bring the water to a boil. |
3. | When the water comes to a boil, place the strainer with the shaomai on top and cover with a lid. Steam for approximately 8 minutes |
Notes:
- Warning! Hot! Please be careful not to burn yourself.
- Be sure that there is enough water in the cooker for the entire process.
- This recipe calls for refrigerated shaomai dumplings. If you choose to use frozen dumplings, steaming time will differ.


The holes at the bottom of the strainer
make it easy to let in smoke or steam.
It can also be used for draining water
and measuring ingredients.


Use it in combination with the Sierra
Cups and Sierra Strainer to transform
it into a rice cooker, steamer, or smoker.

and used as a lid as well as a
shallow pan.
