In order to solve the problem of deer being exterminated in Oze and Minamiaizu Town, Mura no Kajiya has started selling outdoor leather goods made of deerskin on various e-commerce sites in cooperation with Oze deer project (Address: 50 Aza Nakagawara, Furumachi, Minamiaizu Town, Fukushima Prefecture; Representative: Shoko Koyama), which produces and sells deer leather products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reality is that many deer lives are simply thrown away.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, deer have become a serious problem in Minamiaizu Town, Fukushima Prefecture, at the foot of the Oze Mountains.
In some years, as many as about 2,000 deer are exterminated as pests.
With radiation and other problems yet to be resolved, most of the deer cannot be used as meat, and most of their lives are still being discarded.
By selling collaborative products, we hope to make users aware of the current situation, and by using deerskin, we hope to utilize the precious lives of these animals as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hachijurigoe connects Sanjo City and Minamiaizu Town<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanjo City and Minamiaizu Town. Although at first glance there seems to be no connection between the two cities, from the Edo period (1603-1867) to the Meiji period (1868-1912), an important highway was established to connect the two locations, and goods and people came and went between them.
There are various theories as to the origin of the name “Hachijuurigoe,” but it is said that it was called “Hachijuurigoe” because it was known as a harsh mountain road with deep snow and one ri felt like 10 ri.
Currently, a section of the road is impassable, but reconstruction is underway and the road is scheduled to open in 2026. The relationship between Sanjo and Minamiaizu, which has a long history, will be revitalized as people come and go between the two cities!
We were introduced to the current situation surrounding deer by Sanjo City and Minamiaizu Town and to Mr. Oyama of the Oze-shika Project, so we decided to create a collaborative product between Sanjo and Minamiaizu Town one step ahead of the opening of the new road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
